As National OHS&E Manager, you will lead a small team to partner with the business, predominantly the operations team to drive process improvement and efficiencies and affect change. Your ability to build excellent working relationships with the operations team and take a partnering approach as opposed to a dictatorial style will be crucial to build trust and credibility in improving the safety culture. Developing better systems around capturing information for the completion of staff induction programs, ongoing training etc to minimise any risk or exposure from both a safety and environmental perspective will be a major component of the role. The ability to empower the Site Manager’s and their respective teams to ensure safety is ‘top of mind’ in their day to day activities will be of paramount importance. A key expectation will be on reducing LTI’s and work cover claims and driving process improvement and efficiencies across the group.
With proven leadership skills ideally gained from a manufacturing/industrial or related business, the successful candidate must have a lateral and creative approach to problem solving and enjoy day to day interaction with people. You will need to be comfortable being ‘hands on’, yet still developing the overall OHS&E strategy under your leadership. As a senior manager, you will need to have an interpersonal style and confidence to deal with the executive leadership team. Appropriate qualifications ideally tertiary will support your career experience.
